“Let us remember: one book, one pen, one child, and one teacher can change the world”—MalalaYousafzai
The launching of the SPS Web Site in the 32nd year of its existence in the educational map of India in the city of Akbarpur is indeed a significant event for the entire SPS Family. We live in a society that still holds traditional values as a compass for progress and development. However, what we fail to understand is that the world is evolving and so must we. We want education primarily to help us become rich, to be a known figure in society, to be able to live a comfortable life. But nobody thinks about living in a society that breaks itself from the chains of evil practices, from patriarchy, and from discrimination.
Yes, it is important for us to make a living for ourselves—a life which is comfortable and peaceful, for us and our future generation. But more importantly, we should live in a world where caste is not a privilege only for a few, where a woman is not just expected to be a mother and a homemaker but an equally contributing member of the family, and where a person is not discriminated on the basis of his skin colour, his language, or his religion. Once this is imbibed in our children, our education will have meaning.
This country and the world, like our parents, have taken care of us. And it is our responsibility that we take care of our dying earth and not take it for granted. Because of our habits and our lifestyle, we are destroying the sanctity of the place we call home. Climate change is real and our children and their children will bear the brunt of its effects. We do not want our children to live in a world that has no clean air and no clean water. We should conserve our resources, avoid pollution in all its forms, and keep our surroundings clean. When we see someone harming our environment, it is our duty to educate them.
One person cannot change the entire world and all of us should come together to live in a society that is just for everyone. At SPS, we strive for this and imbibe this knowledge in our children. Our generation is at the cusp of change and the teachers at this school have a very important task of nurturing the young minds in the right and just manner.
If education can help us live a comfortable lifethat cares for nature and the upliftment of the forgotten and neglected in the society, then I, as principal of SPS, will consider my duty fulfilled.
Best wishes and blessings to all children at SPS,
